Theatre for non-german speaking or hearing impaired audiences.

 

The free surtitle app PROMPT allows you to read along to selected theatre performances at the Burgtheater in German, English, and other languages, using your own smartphone or one borrowed from the theatre.

You will find the corresponding performances in the programme marked with “Übertitel-App PROMPT”. PROMPT is available for all seats and price categories in the Burgtheater.

THE SURTITLE APP

This free service is now available for Android smartphones in the Google Play Store and for iPhones in the App Store.

You can book your PROMPT seats at our box office, online at tickets.burgtheater.at or by calling us at +43 (0)1 51444 4545. Simply book the tickets for your desired shows, download the app to your smartphone and open it on the evening of the performance!

PROMPT ON THE NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE

  • Once you have taken your seat in the auditorium, open the BURGTHEATER PROMPT App which will guide you through the following steps: Set your phone to airplane mode and activate the Wi-Fi button. If your smartphone does not support automatic Wi-Fi connections, please manually select the LIBRBURG network in your settings. Choose your preferred language for the surtitles.

  • Shortly before the show begins, the app will start a countdown. Now hold your phone sideways! The surtitles will be displayed in a white font on a black background so as not to disturb the people around you.

    We hope you have an accessible and exciting theatre experience!
