APROPOS GEGENWART “HOMELANDS. A PERSONAL HISTORY OF EUROPE”
TIMOTHY GARTON ASH talks to MISHA GLENNY REGINA FRITSCH reads excerpts from the book
Acclaimed British historian and professor (Oxford and Stanford) Timothy Garton Ash is an ardent European for whom the idea of Europe is a symbol of freedom and unity. Even prior to 1989, he was opposed to a divided continent, and he was vocal against Brexit to the very end. In his new book, Homelands: A Personal History of Europe, Garton Ash connects his own life story with the historical events that took place after 1945 and describes Europe’s repeated struggle for freedom and democracy. Misha Glenny, a personal friend, BBC journalist and rector of the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna, will moderate the discussion.
