Das Himmelszelt

In a small village on the east coast of England in 1759, Sally Poppy’s husband accuses her of brutally murdering a young girl. Upon being sentenced to death, Sally Poppy claims to be pregnant, in which case her hanging would have to be deferred. In order to establish whether she is telling the truth or lying, twelve matrons are called away from their housework to serve as jurors. The British playwright Lucy Kirkwood has written a classic court drama for an unconventional cast: a mixture of TWELVE ANGRY MAN and THE CRUCIBLE for an almost allfemale cast.
