Despite their erotic attraction, they are unable to overcome social conventions. Miss Julie stands for the feudal order, which is in the process of decline, and Jean represents the emerging working class. In the wake of this emerging scandal, Julie believes her only way out is suicide. Mateja Koležnik and MISS JULIE are a match made in heaven. Together with her stage designer, Raimund Orfeo Voigt, Koležnik creates strange transitional spaces where she analyses her characters microscopically in laboratory-like situations.
