“You will call this place your home. / This muddy, slushy meadow / the fire place / the beeches, the linden trees, the birch trees, the walnut tree. […] / And you will refuse to accept that this place will be destroyed.” A group of climate activists are camping in the forest to prevent it from being cleared to make space for brown coal mining. Rabe (pronouns: she/her) is a newcomer who quickly learns what it takes for a protest to be effective. How to build a treehouse, how care work is just as important as taking action, how to keep warm at night, and what rights people have when faced with police forces breaking up a blockade.

The activists give one another new names and put glue on their fingertips to make it harder to be identified. And together with her new friends, Rabe discovers that taking a stand for the planet opens up spaces where people can connect, regardless of their background and past, and where solidarity and care for one another are a given. Despite the fear of a future in which global warming leads to unprecedented climate disasters, the activists put a form of co-existence to the test that gives hope for the future.

Together with Studio ensemble actors aged between 15 and 25, director Maximilian Pellert (*1995) brings climate activism, one of the most pressing issues of their generation, to the Vestibül stage.
